Investing in Women – A Just, Green Transition

This year’s International Women’s Day is a crucial opportunity to invest in women – to spark change and speed the transition towards a healthier, safer and more equal world for all.

And today, Danish Industry – taking action to define the future we want – becomes an official member of Generation Equality’s Feminist Action for Climate Justice (FACJ) Action Coalition. They join FACJ members by making the commitment: "Danish Industry's Climate and Gender Equality Pledge: Danish Industry commits to increasing the proportion of women in leadership in the green sector".

By making this commitment, Danish Industry will work to address organizational challenges, including climate change and gender inequality issues. As a member of the Action Coalition, they will raise awareness of the connections between gender equality and climate; share knowledge with Danish Industry member companies; and ensure that companies have the best possible conditions to transition to a greener future.

Danish Industry’s Head of Climate Policy, Anne Højer Simonsen affirms that, “Businesses play a crucial role in achieving the climate transition – and therefore we also have an obligation to ensure that it is a fair transition, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions.”

To further commemorate this year’s International Women’s Day and their commitment to Generation Equality, Danish Industry is hosting an event focused on the question, “How to ensure gender equality in climate political decisions?” This is the second Climate X IWD event of its kind, in collaboration with Danish Church Aid.

In welcoming Danish Industry to the FACJ Action Coalition, Generation Equality Project Executive a.i. Ms Maria Noel Vaeza said: “It is so important that the green transition becomes a just transition. Danish Industry is the largest, most representative business and employer organization in Denmark – and their voice in climate and diversity issues is influential and welcome.”

Generation Equality and Danish Industry are proud to join IWD2024 efforts to invest in women – turbocharging a future where everyone in society can thrive, and realizing the gender equality dividend for all.
