The highlight of the Generation Equality Forum is scheduled to take place in Paris during the first half of 2021 (dates to be announced). The event is intended to celebrate the power of social mobilization for women’s rights, feminist solidarity and youth leadership—all of which contribute to creating momentum towards the transformation we need to achieve gender equality.
More than 5,000 participants from all over the world are expected at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles: representatives of civil society, governments, businesses, municipalities and communities, parliaments, trade unions, the media, etc. Together, participants will make concrete and measurable commitments by launching Action Coalitions.
To ensure that the Forum becomes a true platform for sharing and expressing the ideas of the feminist civil society and people committed to gender equality, the event will feature conferences and workshops. In addition, side events are scheduled to take place in real time around the world. These four days will be punctuated by an exceptional cultural agenda, thanks to partnerships tied with leading cultural institutions, for instance a concert at the Seine musicale, as well as exhibitions and performances at the location of the Forum.
The logistics around the Generation Equality Forum in Paris are in line with the priority given by France towards equality between women and men, which is an important cause carried by the current presidential mandate. France has adopted a feminist-oriented diplomacy approach based on its 2018–2022 International Strategy for Gender Equality. Through its international action, France promotes equality between women and men in all areas and multilateral bodies. This has already been given concrete expression during the French presidency of the G7 through several multi-stakeholder initiatives bringing together both countries and the civil society (i.e. the Biarritz Partnership)—the Forum will help draw up an initial assessment while establishing future prospects.
Registration details for the Forum in Paris will be available shortly on this website.
